Great Keppel Island Holiday Village

Welcome to our island paradise. Are you looking for a beautiful place to rest, walk, snorkel, swim and enjoy the peacefulness of a remote, natural island?  Great Keppel Island is one of those undiscovered treasures sitting amidst a group of Great Barrier Reef Marine National Park islands off the Central Queensland Capricorn Coast in Australia, halfway between Airlie Beach and Hervey Bay.  Sometimes referred to as "Woppaburra" after the Aboriginal people who originally lived on the island, the name translates as "resting place".

After living on Great Keppel Island for over 20 years, our desire is to offer you a holiday with a difference in a down-to-earth and friendly environment.  The Holiday Village is nestled in palm and gum trees less than a minute’s walk to two beautiful white sandy beaches.  Our accommodation is simple & basic, yet comfortable and cozy, giving you a feeling of being away from the fast pace of the world.

The Village atmosphere is what you would expect on an island – low key, with relaxing and lazy days either on the beach or in a hammock, a walk on bushland tracks to deserted beaches, snorkelling, or maybe a kayak or motorised canoe trip to surrounding areas.  And then there are the sunsets.  A true private “Island in the Sun” experience.

The Accommodation

We have accommodation to suit just about everyone, from a fully furnished house to your own tent. All sheets, pillows and quilts are supplied.  A fully equipped communal kitchen with gas stoves, refrigerators and microwave are available, as well as an outside BBQ.  All cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are available for use by our guests.  The houses are fully self-contained making it perfect for family holidays.  Our check in time is 12.00 noon and checkout is 9.00 am.  The only things you need to bring are your clothes, food, a torch for night time, and a willingness to relax and enjoy island life.

Our Reception Area

Our Reception is the hub of our little community.  This is where you can find out what activities are happening, purchase maps of the island showing walking tracks and beaches, pick up snorkelling equipment to use during your stay, book kayak and canoe trips, have a chat to our staff, and meet other guests from around Australia and the world.
