Bowen Visitor Information Centre

Bowen's location within the Whitsundays offers visitors the opportunity to explore it's northern areas that are relatively unexplored by the majority of Whitsunday visitors.

The snorkelling and diving which is accessible off the beaches in Bowen is said to be amoungst some of the best fringing coral on the east coast of Australia.  The blue water, mixed with fantastic year round weather makes Bowen a popular choice with southern visitors.

The Big Mango


The BIG Mango represents the delicious fruit which carries the name sake of the town “Bowen Mango”. The BIG Mango is located at the Bowen Visitor Information Centre, 4 km south of Bowen.

Bowen's History


All of Bowen's history can be retraced at the Bowen Historical Museum. From Catalina Flying Boats, to the unbelievable story of James Morrill and his courageous story of survival.

Murals


The 24 historical murals, which are proudly displayed throughout Bowen's streets, depict the diverse history from the town's early settlement to present day.

Summergarden Theatre


The Summergarden Theatre today is the major provider of screen and stage entertainment for the Bowen, Whitsunday, Proserpine and Collinsville districts.

Snorkeling / Diving


Bowen has some of the best fringing coral literally meters off the beaches and bays and islands. If you are in the Whitsundays head to Bowen for some great snorkeling…
    

Back to Nature


Nestled where "the Bush meets the Beach", Bowen has a number of natural attractions that must be on any visitors itinerary. From the relaxed bushwalks to the spectacular lookouts, these are some sights you cannot miss.

Golf


Bowen has a 9 hole beachfront golf links on Queens Bay and visitors are welcome. The clubhouse is equipped with a specialty store, bar and restaurant.

Muller's Lagoon


One of Bowen's most beautiful spots is Muller's Lagoon. Mullers Lagoon is 23.57 hectares of picturesque parkland in the centre of town, which has been turned into a superb botanical gardens and wetlands habitat.

On the Water


If you want to get out on the water around Bowen, there are a number of ways. You can go sailing, fishing or cruising - the choice is entirely yours. And while you're out there, check out some of our beautiful islands.
